I feel like I slipped out the back door one night and never returned home.

“It was literally a do or die situation for me,” he said. “Either collect samples or your research is for nothing!”

This was an incredibly dense crash course into science journalism and seems to have successfully prepared me for a future in it.

As the months wore on, I began to dread going to work but I didn’t know how to take a break. I didn’t know that quitting was an option.

At the same time, this work is still the most fulfilling I’ve ever had, and I am confident in my choice to continue a journalism career.

At one point, it seemed as though almost every person above the age of forty was either a diabetic or a prediabetic.

Almost teared up when one past fellow said “if you are here, you are good enough.” Recovering from academitis where it seldom felt that way.

Maybe I would thrive in a traditional newsroom. Who knows? But right now, I believe TCUS is the right place for me.

Who gets to benefit from the modest improvements and radical reimaginations of gaming that so many now rely on for community and sanity?
